Vogue 1257 Blue Print Dress

There are quite a few reviews on this dress pattern and most like it very much. I decided to add it to my sewing que since I promised myself I'd make more dresses this year. This was my muslin, made from fabric in my stash (I still can't believe I have a stash now!) I purchased this ITY knit from Fabric Mart some time ago when it was on sale.

While this dress very easy to make, there's just something about the material and this pattern together that don't seem to go together for me! (I am just not feeling it if you know what I mean!) I may wear it with a cardigan so it doesn't go to the wadder pile!

After that, there's not much left to say! What are you thoughts???

I'm back in the sewing room finally and lots of things going on!

Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Sewing!

  1. Hi Myra, I just found your blog!
I looked at the pictures of this dress first and thought how lovely it is. I was surprised to read that you aren't that keen on it. Maybe putting it away in the "magic closet" for a while is the answer. You know, the magic closet that makes clothes you're unsure about right after sewing seem so much better when you pull them out a few weeks later.

  2. It's very attractive and I think it would be stunning with a coordinating cardigan.

    Good to see you back!

  4. I really like this dress, Myra. What is it you don't like? I have a print very close to this one, and my concern would be the busyness of the fabric. But this dress looks wonderfully sewn, and I love how the fabric wraps to the side!

  5. V1257? :-) I agree with Karin. This is a pretty dress. (like the cardi idea too!) I made a dress 5 months ago and I thought it was UGLY. Couldn't "wad" it cause I spent my time. Pulled it out the magic closet last weekend for another try and now I luv it!!

  8. I like it too, but I totally see what you mean. There's something about it that's hard to describe. I think it will look nice with a black cardigan. I agree with the suggestion of putting it away for a few days and come back to it later.

  10. I like the dress myself. And the fabric is such a nice print.

  11. From the back, it's just stunning. From the front, I think the print pulling over to the side at the waist throws it off just a bit, but I would totally wear this dress. I would do the "real" dress in a fabric that's not so geometric - love the style of it!

  12. I hope you'll wear the dress! It's cute and the geometric isn't a huge distraction. Wearing it with a cardigan is a great idea if you are self conscious about it.
