A New Tank Top

I was perusing the fabric store during the Memorial weekend and found this pattern in the racks where they have most of the See N Sew patterns when I came across this one, New Look 0138...

I was captivated by all three of the top views, so I bought the pattern.  Like a good little Pattern Review member, I went online to see if others had reviewed it and could not find the pattern!  However, I did find it under another number...how weird is that!  It was listed on Pattern Review as New Look 6108!  See the snapshot from Pattern Review...

Same pattern, different number.  Does anyone out there know why that is??  Anyway, I just really like this pattern!  I can't wait to make many more of the version I made which was View A (the green print one).  This pattern sews up in a jiffy, the only alteraation I made was to sew up the keyhole in the front an extra inch (modesty purposes only).  I used a ITY knit I purchased from Michaell LeVine and it may be familiar to you because I purchased another color scheme of the same fabric to make the dress I posted here.

This is definitely going to be a TNT pattern for me (even before I've made the other versions!)  The fit is perfect!  The only thing I don't like about this top is the thread I selected for this fabric because it shows a little funky to me.  Maybe I should have selected a lighter color of thread.  Oh well, can't cry over spilled milk!

This is such a comfortable and sexy tank...I can't wait to make a few more!

I am wearing it with a pointe skirt I made a while back. This is a really very nice pattern, so if you like the style, it is soooo worth your time!  I'm off to the next project, thanks so much or stopping by!

Happy Sewing!!

Multiple Projects and Pattern Give Away

Hello everyone!  I hope you all have been very busy and having fun with your sewing projects.  Have you noticed, I'm keeping my sewing "mojo" going this year!  I truly don't know what's making it happen, I'm just enjoying it and taking full advantage of this great opportunity!

Last week, I had an opportunity to have a wonderful dinner with two fellow sewing bloggers, Andrea from Satin Bird Designs and Vicki from Another Sewing Scientist.  What a nice time getting to meet and talk about sewing and all sort of things!  We had a great time and the food was great too!  We ate at a wonderful local Mexican restaurant here in Tampa called Miguel's.  I have met so many people having this blog and getting to "physically meet them is an extra perk, I love it!

I'd like to do this in every state and country of every sewing blogger I know!  Look out, I'll be calling on you if I find myself in your area!

During this meet-up, I was gifted with these great items from the very sweet Andrea...

It's a beautiful pastel green, Rayon Lycra knit, my very first piece of black "fold-over elastic and two patterns!  Thank you Andrea for the very special gifts!  Unfortunately, I already have this Vogue pattern in my stash and did not realize it until I got home! So, with Andrea's blessing, I will give it away to whomever wants it.  All you have to do is comment on my blog letting me know you want it and if there are multiple requests, we'll draw for it.

Now on to the projects...this is what I made with the beautiful gifted fabric, it's McCalls 6752...

I made view C, the purple top, bottom left. The only thing I didn't like about this top was that I made it one size to big!!  It's a very stretchy knit and I knew better!  I always make it a size smaller than normal!  Oh well, I'm going to keep it anyway because I just LOVE, LOVE, LOVE IT!!  I took direction from Toy at Life Happens Be Positive, and did not include the elastic in the waist.  She was absolutely correct with this, it wasn't needed because the gathers and stretchy knit together, were nore than enough!  This top sews up super fast, with only a few pattern pieces!  I will definitely be making this one again! (in the right size of course!)  I also had enough fabric left over to make something else, so you will definitely see it in another creation!

The second project I worked on over last weekend, was for my hubby!  It was another tee shirt made from the Rayon Lycra knit he loves so much!  This one is Plum colored.  I always use the same TNT tee pattern (Jalie 2918) and have modified it in different ways to come up with something a little different each time, like this one...

Jalie 2918 - Pattern Cover

I used my serger to do the contrast Gold stitching (I don't own a Baby Lock...yet, that is, wink, wink!).  I've made him a few of these in different colors & designs because they're his favorites.  Here's one I made last year...

He has quite a few now and is always surprised with each different design I come up with (I think he's just easy to please!)  He says men can't have enough comfortable tees!

Now back to the sewing room for a marathon Memorial holiday weekend of sewing!  Don't forget to comment if you would like the pattern!

Happy Memorial weekend and hope you all get in some great sewing time!

My Mother's Day Frock

Happy Mother's Day to all you mother's out there!  I truly hope you're enjoying your day!  This is going to be a quick post to show you a remake of a TNT wrap top pattern I already made a couple of times.  One of them you can see here.

I wanted something nice to wear on my outing today that would be quick to do.  So last night, I grabbed my best wrap top pattern, Simplicity 1916.

I self-drafted a elastic waist pencil shirt and grabbed some teal colored Ponte Fabric from my stash and put this little number together....

Sorry folks I just have to say it again, I LOVE KNITS!  They're so easy to work with and always so comfortable too!  This outfit turned out perfect for just a few hours of sewing!  I love the fit and the look, this was just what I wanted for a Mother's Day outing!

I really love how it turned out and can't wait to start my Mother's Day, the only thing I will be missing are my beautiful children and wish I could be with them (and my grandchildren) today!

I hope you're all enjoying your day and spending quality time with your families!  BTW, did any of you make your Mother's Day outfits too?   Do tell, I'd like to see!

Also, as promised, here's a picture of me in the print dress I made last post taken just for you all...

Thanks again for stopping by and HAPPY SEWING!

Burda 7082

For all of you dress lovers, this little number is easy to make., it's Burda 7082...

As I've mentioned before, I have not be a fan of dresses in the past because of the way some look on my body type.  However, lately I've been trying to incorporate a few into my wardrobe.  This one was easy to sew up and fit without any alterations!  Really! and no "Gaposis" either! (that's a first for me with wrap style dresses!).  It has an invisible zipper in the side seam and I did install it for ease in getting the dress on and off.  However, if your fabric has enough stretch, you may be able to eliminate the zipper.  I made my version sleeveless and really like the look of it...

I'm still working on my invisible zipper installation...getting better but still needs work!

I purchased the fabric from Michael Levine's Fabrics and LOVE IT!  It's an ITY knit with a very, very nice drape and soft hand!  Extremely nice to work with.  Actually, I just purchased some more of it in a Navy and Coral color scheme.  I made the dress a lttle longer than the version the model is wearing on the envelope, mine is a little below the knees.  I would like to make this dress again in a solid color so you can easily see the details at the waistline.  Sorry, I don't have any photos of me in it yet...I will post some later along with those Ponte Pants I promised you earlier.

Over all, I really like this dress very much and can't wait to wear it!

Thanks again for taking the time to read my posts, I truly appreciate it!

HAPPY SEWING!
